Finally, the weeks of consumerist madness and the building up of holiday cheer come to a head. It's Christmas Eve, the day before the big day — though for many people, the day before Christmas is as big a deal as the main event itself. Some crazy folks even exchange their gifts tonight, beating Santa to the punch.
Speaking of the big guy: There are a few ways to keep taps on Santa Claus as he makes his annual journey around the globe leaving gifts for the good little children (and lumps of coal for those who need to step up their game in 2014). There's the traditional NORAD tracker, though the good folks in the military ran afoul of some parents (including this one) by including a fighter jet escort with visualizations of Santa in flight. (Can we keep the creeping militarism out of Christmas, please?)
[jump]Of course, Google has its satellites trained on Santa as well, if you're looking for a less-warlike take on Santa's flight.
Oh, and the AP has a handy "Five Things to Know About Tracking Santa's Journey" story up if you desire further reading on the subject.
Finally, today's must-read: "Cyber Santa: secret NSA Santa surveillance on naughty children and drone delivery of Christmas presents worldwide."
From all of us at CL, please have a happy, safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends!
