Madeira Beach is the perfect place to cruise around in your archaic, vintage Hudson Hornet with the sleek turquoise paint job — if you’re lucky enough to own one of those gems, that is.
The reality of the matter is that most of us aren’t; however, Tampa Bay isn’t a stranger to the sight of these classic automobiles. With the overwhelming size of Tampa’s retired crowd, witnessing one of these beauties casually flying down I-4 isn’t a rarity, though always a head-turner.
But why settle for the occasional glimpse, and often howling exclamation to your friend in the passenger seat, when you can get an entire show? And you won’t find yourself in a random, closed-off parking lot with just a handful of vehicles on display (for a change).
Vintage car gurus and mere admirers alike can get up close and personal with the Bay Area’s antique car scene as it takes over Madeira Way, featuring countless makes and models of all colors lining the street between Gulf Blvd. and 150th Ave.
This show kicks off a slew of summer 2013 celebrations on the very same street; just a few short weeks ago, a sizeable crowd flocked to Madeira Way for the Wearable Art Show & Sale.
At the Mad Beach Car Show you’ll be transported back to the days of hot rods, woodies and roadsters as they embellish the street — all while a live DJ is spinning your favorite oldies tunes in the background.
Though the cars themselves (which will be professionally judged) are likely amusing enough, there’ll be more entertainment where that came from — and not to mention vendors and concessions, so bring the whole family along for the ride.
