Under a sometimes sunny sky, Live Nation's second annual edition of Sunshine Music & Blues Festival took form at Vinoy Park this past Sun., Jan. 19. No official numbers yet on attendance; as the day wore on, the masses continued to grow but it never seemed unbearably crowded. Overall, a nice balance of available space and groups of local folks enjoying a relaxing Sunday on the St. Pete waterfront.
And what a Sunday it was. Not even Mother Nature's imitation of fall could cool the hot guitar licks of newcomer Oli Brown, jazz legend Stanley Clarke, Southern rock vet Jimmy Herring, and slide master Derek Trucks. The people came for music and Sunshine delivered, even on a cloudy day.
