New York by way of St. Pete artist Timm Metler returns to Studio@620 for a pop-up art exhibition and an evening of discussion about his journey from St. Petersburg to New York City and all points in between.

See Metler's work rendered on paper accompanying a selection of recent paintings, a slide presentation of absent works with a talk on influences, and a final film presentation of the 1991 independent film Daughters of Dust by auteur Julie Dash.

Mettler began volunteering at the Studio@620 in 2006 helping install the Florida Highwaymen show with cofounder Dave Ellis. In 2007 his solo show Series of Shifting Landscapes opened the fourth season at the Studio@620. In 2008 director and founder Bob Devin Jones chose him to serve as the Artistic Associate/Program Manager until 2010. Metler graduated from Eckerd College with a B.A. majoring in Fine Arts with a minor in Film Studies. He has since moved to New York where he maintains a studio practice in Long Island City, Queens.

See his work and maybe meet the artist 7-9 p.m. tonight at The Studio@620 in St. Petersburg. studio620.org.
