According to several Internet reports, Manahattan head coach Steve Masiello is expected to be named the next USF Men's Basketball coach and introduced later this week.

Masiello will become the ninth head coach in USF history, replacing Stan Heath, who was fired after the Bulls finished 12-20 this season (3-15 in the American Athletic Conference).

The deal is for five years and worth more than $1 million per year, according to CBSSports.com.

The former Rick Pitino assistant recently led Manhattan to the NCAA where the Jaspers lost to Pitino's Louisville team in the second round.

CBSSports was the first to report the hiring, stating Outback Steakhouse co-founder Chris Sullivan played a big role in getting Masiello. Sullivan is a University of Kentucky alumnus and Masiello played for the Wildcats when Pitino was their coach.

In three seasons as Manhattan's head coach, Masiello, 36, compiled a 60-39 record. He reportedly told the Jaspers players he would be taking the USF job, rumored to be a five-year, $6.2 million deal, Tuesday morning.
