The Arts Council of Hillsborough County's funding program, power2give, is in its third month. The funding source gives people an opportunity to donate to local arts organizations for specific endeavors. So far, it has funded projects for the American Stage Theatre Company, Community Stepping Stones, EMIT, Firehouse Cultural Center, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Henry B. Plant Museum, Ruth Eckerd Hall and VSA Florida.
There are still four weeks left to donate to other artistic and enriching causes. Take a gander at the list:
- Bits 'N Pieces Puppet Theatre
Three Billy Goats Gruff Show Tickets - Help a child learn to say “I Can Do It” and succeed at this special puppet show at Tampa Theatre. - Carrollwood Cultural Center
Replace Their Sound System - Their system emitted a few high pitched squeals, emitted a small puff of smoke (or possibly dust), then ceased to work. R.I.P. old sound system. - Dunedin Fine Art Center
Creative Journaling Program - Bring the transformative power of creative journaling to victims of domestic abuse. - Florida Aquarium
What's in Your Watershed? - Send low-income, minority and at-risk youth to an immersive summer camp. - Florida Wind Band
Geodes CD Project - A special recording project featuring masterworks and new band works. - Gulf Coast Youth Choirs
Young Voices Festival - Pay for facilities and performance venue, provide honorariums for the choral clinician and local experts, and the commission of a brand new musical composition. - Life Enrichment Center
Mural, Exterior Makeover - Create a beautiful mural on the front and side of the building depicting what is offered in the Center. - Master Chorale of Tampa Bay
Festival of Voices Scholarships - A two-day outreach event and workshop for a diverse group of high school choral students and their teachers. - Ruth Eckerd Hall
Start Some Drama Camp - Put the drama, music, art, dance and other creative experiences in camp and on stage where it belongs this summer. - St Petersburg/ Clearwater Film Society
Sponsor a Celeb at Sunscreen Film Festival - Help pay expenses to bring star power to the festival. - Stageworks Theatre
Lobby Makeover - They need to raise the bar (and bar stools and tables) to create an exciting place to congregate before, during, and after performances. - Tampa Bay Children's Chorus
Adopt a Singer - Give them sheet music, uniforms, a place to perform and something to sing about. - Tampa Museum of Art
Bring "LIGHT" to Lobby — a site-specific work by noted Chinese contemporary artist Wang Yuyang. - Ybor City Museum Society
Baseball Museum Mini-Stadium - Help create a small-scale baseball stadium right in the middle of this new museum.
