Audiowood Listening Party and Record Player Display Audiowood designs represent the pinnacle of both handcrafted woodwork and audio design — even Chris Pine's Captain Kirk spins an Audiowood's Bachelor turntable in Star Trek: Into Darkness. See some badass turntable handiwork in person when Joel Scilley, a Florida native, woodworker and Audiowood designer, presents a showcase of his Audiowood designs in conjunction with Florida Craftsmen Gallery, The Suncoast Audiophile Society (SAS) and Daddy Kool Records. Scilley will discuss and demonstrate his turntables and other audio goods in two connected events. Summer Salt Alabama native Emily Barnes presents an exhibition that illustrates the human form in water. Her use of oils and vibrant colors contrasts underwater life and life outside the water. Nathan Beard The artist's newest abstracts are on display at the Nicole Shannon Gallery, 200 Beach Drive NE, Suite #7, on view during a reception from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with live music, food and drink. Wade Slater: Family Tree The Morean Arts Center exhibition showcases the work of last year's winner of the Margaret Murphy Steward Best of Show award, Wade Slater. His theme incorporates horror. Washington Glass Duncan McClellan Gallery’s latest exhibition pulls in five key members of the Washington Glass School, an innovative Washington, D.C., institution fueled in part by public art commissions as an earned income venture. (Last year their revamped glass doors for the Library of Congress took the place of bronze originals by Lee Lawrie, the Rockefeller Center sculptor, which were lovingly preserved.) The show includes the studio’s two co-founders, artists Tim Tate and Erwin Timmers, as well as co-director Michael Janis and instructors Sean Hennessey and Allegra Marquart.
