This week features a full slate of touring performers and loc al talent. Whether you like clean material, or filthy jokes, there are shows for you on the schedule. Here's the lineup for this weekend:
Theaters
Brian Regan at Straz Center (Carol Morsani Hall). Regan's clean, clever comedy resonates with fans, and the longtime performer has a lot of them. Regan's set (and career) is proof that you don't have to be dirty to be recognized by crowds and peers as a premier talent. Showtime is Friday at 8 p.m. 1010 N. MacInnes Place in Tampa. Info: strazcenter.org or 813-229-7827.
Comedy Clubs
Girl Code at Tampa Improv. Two stars from the popular MTV series (Jessimae Peluso and Carly Aquilino bring their brash comedy to the stage here in Tampa. Like the show, their stand-up material focuses on the realities of modern-day living for self-aware ladies. Showtimes are Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. 1600 E. Eighth Ave., Tampa. Info: improvtampa.com or 813-864-4000.
Misters Before Sisters at Tampa Improv. A day before "Girl Code" kicks off a four-day run at Tampa Improv, some local boys take the stage for an adult-oriented show. John Jacobs joins Law Smith for an evening of pop culture references and sarcastic commentary. Showtime is Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Josh Blue at Side Splitters. With Last Comic Standing enjoying a revival on television, a previous winner visits Tampa for some special engagement shows. A lot of of Blue's material focuses on his cerebral palsy, but you won't feel sorry for the likable comedian. Most audiences are too busy laughing for that. Showtimes are Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., and Saturday at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. 12938 N. Dale Mabry, Tampa. Info: sidesplitterscomedy.com or 813-960-1197.
Pretty Paul Parsons at Side Splitters. Parsons looks like the kindly old man you'd meet at the park or the grocery store — until he opens his mouth. If you like dirty comedy and can get over the shock of his filthy premises, you'll have a great time. Showtime is Sunday at 7 p.m.
Steve Netta at Snappers Grill & Comedy Club. Netta is a local talent, and the fast-talking Italian-American has plenty to say. Expect a little audience interaction, a lot of wit and a clever tag or two to each joke. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. 36657 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor. Info: snappersgrill.com or 727-938-2027.
Eddie Brill at Coconuts Comedy Club (MJ's). Brill is an internationally-known performer with more than 35 years in the business, including turns as a talk show comedy booker and warm-up act. If you enjoy seeing longtime comedy vets doing their thing, you won't find anyone with more stand-up tenure than Brill this weekend. Showtimes are Wednesday-Saturday at 9:30 p.m. 5501 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. Info: coconutscomedyclubs.com or 727-360-5653.
Kevin Knows at Two Palms. Local comedian Knows has a lot of experience and a slight Forrest Gump-ish demeanor to him. But his set packs plenty of punchlines, often set up by personal experiences. Showtime is Saturday at 8:30 p.m. 2950 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., Clearwater. Info: tampabaycomedy.com or 727-741-8014.
