Yes, we're bitter, jaded, and spoiled. As if the smattering of great local and national acts wasn't enough to satiate our live music needs, this post is another complaint that another fantastic artist is skipping a trip to the Bay area on a tour of America's wang.
Boys and girls, the almighty Jack White is touring our state, and while a Jacksonville date has been in the books for weeks, a pair of new Florida shows familiarly skirts our immediate neck of the woods. Yes, the pale one (just like Bey & Jay) is gonna make you drive to see him, but if you don't want to go up I-95 (or fly to Detroit where our holmies Booker & Norton are opening), then head to South Florida where Mr. White is playing two shows at The Fillmore in Miami on September 21-22.
It's happening in support of the 38-year-old White's brand new, sales-record crushing, vinylgasm-inducing album, Lazaretto, which CL's own Leilani Polk wrote is packed with "riff-raging cock-strutting rock n’ roll." Fun fact, did you know that Tampa almost had the ultimate Jack White experience when WMNF got really close to booking The White Stripes for Heatwave one year?
Anyhow, tickets start at $62.50 and go on sale to the general public on Fri., June 27 at 10 a.m. EDT. As has become custom in this age of "we'll do anything to get you to give us even more money," there is a Live Nation presale that happens on Thurs., June 26 at 10 a.m. EDT. More information is available here.
The Fillmore is located at 1700 Washington Ave. in Miami Beach, just under 300 miles from Tampa. Click here to find the lowest prices for gas in the Bay area. If you have no hope of getting to either show, then just download this sweet soundboard recording of White's 2014 Bonnaroo set, plug in your headphones, and wallow in the sadness. Nerd out and see Lazaretto's vinyl tricks in the video below.
