Movie stars, musical comedians, contest winners and plenty of local talent are on tap this week. Comedy clubs are offering a wide variety of material, so you should have no problem find something that suits your tastes. Here are the heavy-hitters this week.

Shawn and Marlon Wayans at Tampa Improv. Two of the more prolific members of the Wayans family are in town for special engagement shows all weekend. Their live show should follow their regular approach to comedy, which includes a little silliness and a lot of outrageous material. Showtimes are Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. 1600 E. Eighth Ave., Tampa. Info: improvtampa.com or 813-864-4000.

Jimmy Della Valle at Tampa Improv. At first glance, Della Valle looks like he'd be a better fit on The Sopranos than on stage, so it's no surprise he appeared on that show. But he belongs in comedy clubs, with the easy-going, no-nonsense style of a guy from the old neighborhood, if that guy also had decades of stand-up comedy experience.
Showtime is Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Alonzo Bodden at Side Splitters. For the second straight weekend, Side Splitters hosts a Last Comic Standing winner. This week it's Bodden, who has an authoritative-sounding voice and a knack for finding the funny in relationships, current events and other familiar situations. Showtimes are Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. 12938 N. Dale Mabry, Tampa. Info: sidesplitterscomedy.com or 813-960-1197.

Paul Hooper at Side Splitters. Hooper headlines the early Saturday show this weekend. He's a storyteller who lays out situations that usually leave him irritated and the audience laughing. Showtime is Saturday at 6 p.m.

Traci Kanaan at Snappers. The Princess of Parodies twists popular songs to her own style. There's audience interaction, some naughty words and plenty of familiar tunes (performed in an unfamiliar way).
Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. 36657 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor.Info: snappersgrill.com or 727-938-2027.

Bull at Coconuts Comedy Club (MJ's). Bull doesn't look like a friendly father of five, but that's who he really is. The local comedian's material is accessible and clever, but not dirty. Showtimes are Wednesday-Saturday at 9:30 p.m. 5501 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. Info: coconutscomedyclubs.com or 727-360-5653.

Kevin Deady at Two Palms Bar & Bistro. Local comedian Deady headlines the first show of the evening, using his experience to present funny premises to the audience. One night only. Showtime is Saturday at 8:30 p.m. 2950 Gulf To Bay Blvd., Clearwater. Info: tampabaycomedy.com or 727-741-8014.

Double Special at Two Palms Bar & Bistro. Double Special — named after the Internet podcast — is a good fit for improvisational comedy fans. The show features longtime improv performer Chris Gorges, whose high-energy personality will likely set the tone for the evening. Showtime is Saturday at 10 p.m.
