After seven years of supplying area cyclists with the means to maintain and relish in their wheels, the Tampa Bay Bike Co-op will host its End of An Era BBQ & Bike Sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
This is the last time the co-op’s space at 2512 Silverlake Ave. will be open.
The co-op announced its plans to begin a new chapter within Tampa’s cycling community at the beginning of last month.
“We feel that it’s time to turn our efforts to connecting those that want to learn with those that want to teach and finding new venues to spread the message that bikes can serve many purposes for many people,” said a post on the co-op’s website.
Alongside barbecue offerings, everything from parts to bikes will be featured at the farewell sale, and the proceeds will help launch a bicycle project at The Well, a nonprofit that provides resources like food and clothing at its headquarters on Florida Avenue.
Some tools and functional parts will also be donated to the St. Pete Bike Co-op and God’s Pedal Power Ministry.
“Ride safe, Tampa,” said the co-op’s send-off post, “And thanks for keeping it DIY all these years.”
