The annual John's Pass Seafood Festival has been a customary haunt for residents, restaurants, the Halloween-costumed and tourists for more than 30 years.
This year, though, in a first for the outdoor bash, local seafood eateries will compete against each other to see which spots serve the tastiest fare.
Best Grouper, Best Seafood Dish and People's Choice are among the titles up for grabs.
Held Friday, Oct. 24, to Sunday, Oct. 26, at Madeira Beach's tourist fishing village, the two-and-a-half day festival will bring devout seafoodies together for the eats (of course), an arts and crafts showcase, live entertainment and more.
Restaurants interested in the showdowns may enter for free, and have until Saturday's deadline to apply by calling 727-249-1868 or emailing sonnyflynn@aol.com. Booth spaces are available for eateries that wish to attend as vendors, too.
