Last week, Florida Democratic Attorney General candidate George Sheldon announced that he would ask a court to force Governor Rick Scott to fully disclose all his assets and investments. He made that announcement days after the Miami Herald reported that Scott is listed in federal records as controlling trust accounts that aren’t listed in financial disclosure documents he is required to file each year with the state, and may have shielded more than $200 million in assets. The Scott campaign has maintained that it's in full compliance with both state and federal requirements.
Seizing on this latest story is the liberal super PAC American Bridge 21st Century, who is now airing a new television ad called, "Shady Rick: What's He Hiding?"
"It's not just a legal issue. It's an ethical issue, one regarding transparency and conflicts of interests," American Bridge says in their statement accompanying the ad. "Rick Scott has already proven that he's not above making decisions as governor that would be of personal financial benefit."
