Acclaimed Tampa artist Neil Bender stands in as curator this month at Tempus Projects to bring us Haptic Tactile Fractal, a show highlighting the works of Toronto-based painter Jenal Dolson (whose work is pictured) and Brooklyn-based sculptor Nicholas Moenich.
Both artists play with our perceptions of the visual and tactile, creating works with vibrant colors and playful twists. It’s a whole new merging of the abstract and the bedazzled.
The exhibition opens Nov. 1 with a reception 7-10 p.m. and runs through Dec. 6 and coincides with an opening reception at Quaid next — a solo exhibition called Miracle Crusade, new works by Justin Bryan Nelson, explores themes of alienation, loss of identity, and transformation with a range of works, created with delicate charcoal drawings and high-key colored pencil renderings of "psychedelic eruptions."
November will be a busy month at Tempus and Quaid with a reception for both show during First Friday Seminole Heights on Nov. 7, 6-10 p.m., and a Wu-Tang-Fundraiser Dance Party will bring the house down Nov. 22, 9 p.m.-midnight. As per tradition, this weekend’s art show will be followed by an after party at the Mermaid Tavern at 10 p.m.
