All kinds of minds will come together for the love of artistic innovation at the 2014 Creative Time Summit Screening in Tampa Bay on Nov. 14 and 15.

The USF Contemporary Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg are eager to present the Bay area with a prestigious event of visionaries and inspirational thinkers.

Each year artists, activists, writers and curators come together in an energetic melting pot of artistry and explore how to tackle the world's most challenging political and social issues.

The Summit is an initiative of Creative Time, a New York-based organization dedicated to the presentation of innovative art in the public realm.

Hundreds of luminaries have presented their unique innovative visions at the Summits. Since 2009, individuals such as famed philosopher Slavoj Žižek, legendary art critic Lucy Lippard, artist Rick Lowe and Academy Award nominated filmmaker Laura Poitras have graced the stage.

The 2014 Creative Time Summit in Tampa will feature video screenings of presentations by the international lineup of artists and activists from the 2014 Creative Time Summit in Stockholm, Sweden. There will also be presentations by Tampa Bay and Florida-based artists, designers and cultural producers.

Some of the featured speakers at Tampa's summit are Shaun Drinkard with Tampa Downtown Partnership, Gregg Perkins from the University of Tampa and Jillian Mayer, a Miami-based multimedia artist. There will be panel discussions in which members of the audience will be invited to engage. Drinkard will discuss current cultural place-making initiatives in downtown Tampa, Perkins will present his Geosonic Mobile App, which allows users to create audio compositions in response to Tampa’s geography and Mayer will discuss her most recent artwork, 400 Nudes.

The two-day event will take place at CL Space in Tampa and at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg. Admission to the 2014 Creative Time Summit Screening is free at both venues.
