On Friday, Hidden Springs Ale Works, which plans to open later this year, announced its Tampa headquarters at 1631 N. Franklin St.

The brewery joins other newbie establishments in the Tampa Heights neighborhood, including Ulele and the Rialto Theatre, located right next to Hidden Springs.

Beer geeks have sampled the brewery's liquids, including milk stouts, a double IPA and a Flanders red ale, at events on both sides of the bay.

Nearby, in the former Roosevelt 2.0 and Tampa Bay Brewing Company building at 1812 N. 15th St., Cigar City Cider and Mead debuted in Ybor City.

The part cidery, part meadery's tasting room is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday. When this reporter stopped in around 5:30 p.m., 10 ciders and three meads were featured, as well as two guest taps from Coppertail Brewing Co. and Tampa Bay Brewing Company.

Later on, as operations manager Todd Strauss said back in June, drinkers will have access to the space's upstairs balcony and the cider and mead garden outside.

Though Cigar City Cider and Mead's official hours haven't been determined, CL will update this post when they are.
