What if we told you that Saturday nights in Ybor City could consist of more than your typical, worn out bar hopping escapades? Well, it’s true — you can spice things up with a truly unique night in an equally unique location.

The Roosevelt 2.0 used to be a condemned building, but has since become a creative urban renewal project and has transformed into one of Ybor’s hotspots. You can check out Sacred Sounds at this location on the third Saturday of every month, but this particular month is worth noting.

Hosted by DeTyme POET (AKA the birthday boy), the Sacred Sounds DeTyme BDAY SHOW is all about open mic and slam poetry. Come out and watch the performers, or join in yourself — open mic is first come first serve, and the first 10 open mic participants before 9:30 p.m. are free.

The slam list, reserved for the first 12 slammers that like, comment and share the event to their friends, costs $10 to be a part of. But these performers won’t be walking out empty-handed; in addition to cash prizes for first, second and third place winners, finalists will have their time to shine on SacredSoundsTV (YouTube).

$10 to watch. Sat., Sep. 21, 8:45 p.m. 1812 15th St., N. 727-859-7483. creativityincommerce.com.
