Metro Wellness and Community Center and Trans*Action Florida have teamed up to present a Transgender Town Hall event, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Metro Wellness’ St. Pete location, 3251 3rd Ave. N. A panel will discuss the latest issues facing the transgender and gender-variant communities. Topics include: transphobic violence, intersex issues, Pinellas HRO, health, HIV, the Affordable Care Act, positive outcomes of 2013 and what’s ahead in 2014. Panelists include Dr. Kathleen Farrell; Kyle Lidge, LMHC; and Dana ZZyym, intersex advocate.
Divas After Dark presents “Living with AIDS What a Drag” a Black & White Gayla to benefit Sarasota’s Community AIDS Network’s Emergency Relief Fund. The fundraiser will take place at Michael’s On East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. Cocktails and dinner begins at 6:30. The drag performance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $100.

A candlelight vigil to mark this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance will take place on the steps of St. Pete City Hall, 175 5th St. N. The vigil, which starts at 7 p.m., will memorialize the lives of those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. Councilmembers Steve Kornell and Amy Foster will be in attendance.

Got a rant or a story or a poem? Pick up the mic and show off your stuff at Oral Fixation’s LGBTQ monthly open mic on Thursday, April 18 at Ybor City’s R Bar, 1820 North 15th St., Tampa. Doors open at 9; show starts at 10 p.m. Performers of all types are welcome and encouraged to share their art. This month Oral Fixation will also collect canned goods and packaged foods for The Spring of Tampa Bay.

St. Pete’s Flamingo Resort, 4601 34th St. S., presents Mind Gaymes, the world’s first gay mind reading show. Volunteers from the audience will be asked to participate. They will also offer free handwriting analysis after the show. Seating is limited; call (727) 321-5000 to reserve a spot.
Saturday, Nov. 23
Check out some local bands at Rock AIDS at Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N. Ashley Dr., 3 to 7 p.m. All of the proceeds benefit Metro Wellness and Community Centers, Tampa Bay’s premier HIV services provider. The band lineup includes The Black Honkeys, Karmic Tatoo and John Q. There will also be vendors, food trucks, raffles and more. Tickets are $5 in advance and can be purchased here, and $10 at the door.
Sawmill Resort, located in Dade City, will host its Miss Sawmill 2014 pageant. Entry fee is $125 person. Participants will be judged on the following categories: Winter White, Evening Gown, Q&A, and Talent. Prizes include a job, a weekend getaway and cash.
Epic Saturdays at Liquid Tampa, 1502 E. 7th Ave. N., welcomes back Manila Luzon from “RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race” for a special “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” event. Tickets to the movie will be given away throughout the night. DJ/performer Power Infiniti will also spin all the hottest tracks and beats, and house diva Conundrum hosts. Doors open at 9 p.m. No cover before 10 p.m. General admission is $5; $10 for entry, and a meet and greet with Manila Luzon. Tickets can be purchased here.
