
Feeling that special love for Tampa? Mayor Bob Buckhorn does and is hosting a Celebration of the City of Tampa with four past mayors today at 4 p.m., in the city’s courtyard between Old City Hall and the Tampa Municipal Office Building at 315 E. Kennedy Blvd.
Mayor Buckhorn joins Mayor Greco, Mayor Freedman, Governor Martinez and Mayor Poe for the celebration. The free event pays tribute to 126 years of history of the city of Tampa.
[jump]Several exhibits will be on display inside and outside of Old City Hall, including official Mayoral portraits by Ric Savid, Tampa’s ninth Photographer Laureate; copies of The Mayors of Tampa book, which covers the history of all the mayors from Joseph Lancaster to Bob Buckhorn; a Lego replica of the block surrounding City Hall; and a Tampa Bay History Center exhibit.
A brief program will commence at 4 p.m. with presentations by Mayor Buckhorn. Musical entertainment will be provided by Saxophonist Sam Allen and the City of Tampa Gospel Choir. For more information, call 813-274-8397.
Set a spell for Wordier Than Thou's next open mic for writers and storytellers, this evening at 7 p.m., at Genaro Coffee on Central Avenue in St. Pete. Tiffany Razzano, who covers the LGBT for CL (and is an all-around swell gal and writer), founded, coordinates and hosts the event.
"We're trying a new night and starting a bit earlier as well," event founder/organizer Razzano says. "So far, it seems like people are very receptive to the new day and time."
In addition to the new day and time, Razzano has shared. that she'll be hosting Wordier Than Thou at The Studio@620 starting in January.
