Mainsail Art Festival is downtown St. Pete's biggest juried art event with vendors and booths spread out across scenic Vinoy Park on the bayfront. Mainsail Arts Festival began in 1976 when the city's Bicentennial Committee, the St. Petersburg Recreation Department and the new St. Petersburg Arts Commission joined forces to sponsor the First Annual Saint Petersburg Sidewalk Arts and Colonial Crafts Festival. Now a two-day event that combines visual and performing arts along with a Young at Art student show. There is an assortment of culinary arts as well as Mainsail souvenirs. More than 250 exhibiting artists from all over the United States have their art on sale or available for commission in the following categories: Ceramics, Fibers, Glass, Jewelry, Metal, Mixed Media, Oil/Acrylic, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor and Wood.
The event seeks volunteers are asked to use our online Volunteer Registration Form to select a location, day and time that has openings available. To register to volunteer online, please visit the Mainsail website at mainsailart.org and click on volunteers on the upper right side of the page.
More than 250 volunteers are needed to staff several booths on April 19-20, for two-hour shifts 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteer areas include soft drink/water booths, beer/wine trucks (must be 21 years & older, limited to one shift per day), promotions/T-shirt sales and a hospitality/information tent. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt.
