The northwestern quadrant of Ybor will be home to two major beer-centric events this weekend.
On Saturday, 1-5 p.m., Creative Loafing will host the first ever Spring Hops, a daytime outdoor fest serving samples from 11 craft breweries. A VIP hour noon-1 p.m. offers complimentary cocktails, exclusive nosh and live music from the Woolly Bushmen. General admission is $25 and includes 12 drink tickets and a souvenir drinking stein; VIP is $50 and includes 20 tickets. Food will be available for purchase from Spaghetti Warehouse, attendees can pose with rockabilly pinups styled by La France and Tribeca Salon.

In addition, you can grab goodies at local shops on Record Store Day and then join CL at Spring Hops at 1 p.m. There will be 30 local brews to sample and enjoy, including several unreleased Easter beers. Show your Record Store receipt at the door, we'll give you an extra beer sampling ticket!  Photo of Southern Brewing toast by Cindy Lyons.

On Sunday at 8 p.m., Jobsite Theater will present A Brief History of Beer at New World Brewery — performed by the theatrical duo known as Wish Experience, aka Will Glenn and Trish Parry (pictured above, right), who perform a “delicious ramble through the myths and legends surrounding everyone’s favorite beverage.” $7, free for Jobsite season ticket holders.
