Over the weekend, CL reported on two events related to the current blockbuster two-museum art show My Generation: Young Chinese Artists — a talk by author, promoter and Chinese rock 'n' roll expert Jonathan Campbell this Wednesday at St. Pete's Museum of Fine Arts, and a show by Chinese rock act Re-TROS the following evening at Local 662, also in downtown St. Pete.
Unfortunately, we received a media alert today from the Museum of Fine Arts announcing the cancellation of the highly anticipated second part of this unprecedented event. To wit:
"Because the drummer was unable to receive his visa, the concert by Chinese rock band, ReTROS (Rebuilding the Rights of Statues), scheduled for this Thursday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at Local 662, 662 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, has been canceled. Ticket refunds can be obtained at the Welcome Desk of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, 255 Beach Drive N.E. For more information, please call 727.896.2667."
We're quite bummed about this development, but at last Campbell will still be appearing Wednesday night.
