New World rarely gets as packed as it did when Athens, Ga.-based Kishi Bashi stopped at the cozy Ybor venue on Tue., Aug. 12. They delivered a dance-and-joy-inducing musical experience driven by K. Ishibashi’s virtuoso violin play, which combines his classical music training with the ingeniousness of electro-experimenting and modern looping and programming techniques. The pitch-shifted multi-tracked vocals, colorfully lush sonicscapes and catchy refrains add up to music that just makes you feel good, as it did for the more than 250 folks who crammed into the venue on this night.
